Central Retreat

Central Retreat is perched high up on the slopes of Signal Hill with panoramic views of Table Mountain and the City Bowl. The beautiful yet unassuming facade hides within something truly unique. The Space:

This grand dame of Cape Town's skyline has been fully restored and modernised to create a space that will make you question whether you are in an art gallery or a manor house. The home's position allows guest to take full advantage of the best Table Mountain views and offers a sanctuary in the City Bowl.

The 4 bedrooms, multiple family areas and large kitchen make Central Retreat the perfect escape for your family holiday. We do not allow any events or parties out of respect for our home and neighbours - noise travels very easily through the street.

A walk through the lush front garden leads you up a set of steps to the front door. Through the front door, walk into an impressive entrance hall flanked by the TV lounge, 1st bedroom and home spa. The TV lounge has a smart TV with Netflix and a sunny reading nook.

Up the stairs to the main level you will find a dining room with loads of natural light and a combustion fireplace for evenings where you want to create a cosy dining experience. The double volume lounge area with a fireplace and carefully curated art is on the same level as well as a large kitchen that leads to an outside patio with a braai.

Also on the main level you will find the main bedroom complete with a canopy bed, views over the city bowl and doors to the patio to let in fresh air. The ensuite bathroom offers a walk-in shower and oversized tub with marble finishes and a double basin completing the space.

The upper level offers 2 bedrooms, a shared bathroom and second TV lounge with a study area complete with an L-shaped desk and a reading nook overlooking the lounge on the level below. An added bonus is the loft space in the second bedroom upstairs with 2 single beds (this loft area is open to the rafters above).

Guest Access:

Guests will be given their own set of keys and have the house to themselves. Access to the property is electronic with remote access to the front gates and an access tag to enter the front door.

Other Things To Note:

We can arrange additional cleaning or laundry services upon request and at an additional cost, if required. Linen, towels, tea, coffee, sugar and basic shower amenities are provided.

Please note that the larger of the upstairs bedrooms is a loft-like space with open rafters - it's perfectly private but the ceiling is open to the beautiful timber rafters. Given the loft-style layout of the upper level, there are areas where the balustrades have very wide gaps so extreme care would need to be taken with toddlers.

Please note that the jacuzzi is set up as a chlorinated splash pool. Should you wish for it to be heated, please inform us in advance.

Please note that pool cleaning is scheduled weekly as needed and may take place during your stay. We do our best to keep any disruption to a minimum. This home is situated in a quiet neighbourhood and extra care must be taken to keep noise levels down especially after dark and when arriving home after going out for dinner. Not adhering to this House Rule will be grounds for a possible eviction.

• We do not allow any parties or events at the property. No more than 8 guests are allowed at the property at any time without prior approval
• Please keep noise levels to a minimum (especially after 10PM)
• No smoking of any kind is permitted on the premises.
• No pets are permitted on the property.
